Listen Within

Melos begins with a simple idea: before we can grow, we need to pay attention. To ourselves. To how we live. To what matters. And to the patterns that shape our lives.
Through practice, learning, and community, Melos creates space to develop greater awareness and live with more intention.
Our mission
Our mission is to empower individuals to recover their true selves and deliver their unique gifts to the world. Personal growth is not only about understanding ourselves. It is about what we do with that understanding and how we contribute to the lives of others.
Our philosophy
Meaningful growth takes more than awareness. It takes practice, discipline, respect, boundaries, and a willingness to contribute.

Practice — Showing up consistently
Awareness — Seeing ourselves clearly
Discipline — Doing what supports growth
Respect — Honoring the practice and one another
Boundaries — Creating an environment built on trust
Contribution — Turning personal growth into service

Each strengthens the next.
Meet the People Behind Melos

Michael Nolan
Co-Founder
Michael Nolan is a co-founder of Melos, President and Co-Founder of Embodied Recovery, and co-creator of the Empowered Living Teaching Series. Michael’s work is rooted in his own journey through addiction and mental health challenges into sustained recovery, and a firm belief in the healing power of practice, service, and supportive community.

Sober since August 8, 2007, Michael's foundation for his recovery was through formal treatment and the rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. Along the way, he longed for a community space where he could continue deepening that recovery through mentorship, meditation, education, and shared spiritual exploration. His regular practice of SunDo, a Korean Taoist mind-body discipline, continues to strengthen his connection to himself and others and was vital to shaping the vision for Melos.

Michael helped establish Melos to provide a space where people can continue their healing journey together. Through spiritual practices, spiritually informed teachings, mind-body disciplines, service, and community connections, he hopes to cultivate a lasting sense of belonging grounded in the values of recovery. His commitment to service is an expression of gratitude for those who offered him care, guidance, and honesty throughout his own healing journey.

A husband to Christina and father of three, Michael cherishes the family life that recovery has made possible.
